 Southern News
Corporation
Southern News Corporation contracted K Chen Engineering
as Consulting Engineer for the development of their new
corporate headquarters and printing facilities in
Houston, TX and a new office facility in Dallas, TX. K
Chen Engineering’s scope of services included boundary
and topographic surveying, hydrology analysis and civil
engineering design of paving, drainage, on-site and
off-site utilities, and detention facilities.
El Paso Federal Justice Center Expansion
This project was an expansion of the existing Federal
Justice Center in El Paso by the General Services
Administration of the United States Government for use
by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. K Chen
Engineering’s scope of services included civil
engineering design of pavement / parking areas, on-site
utilities, off-site drainage facilities and erosion
control.
 Bradford Suites Hotels
Bradford Suites are extended stay hotels located
throughout the region. Our team members have worked on
several new Bradford Suites developments in the Greater
Houston area. General scope of services included
subdivision platting, site investigation reports, civil
design of parking/vehicular areas, site utility design
and drainage facilities.
Computed Imaging Headquarters
K Chen Engineering was Consulting Engineer for Computed
Imaging’s new corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas.
KCEC’s scope of work included civil engineering
construction documents consisting of site dimension
control plans, paving & drainage plans, site utility
plans, site detail sheets, and storm water pollution
prevention plans.
 McDonald’s Restaurants
K Chen Engineering has worked as engineering consultant
for the construction of new freestanding McDonald’s
restaurants throughout the State of Texas. K Chen
Engineering’s scope of work includes the preparation of
site investigation reports, site plan design, civil
engineering construction documents (including site
plans, paving & drainage plans, site utility plans, site
detail sheets, and storm water pollution prevention
plans) and permitting.
Sonic Restaurants
K Chen Engineering has worked as engineering consultant

restaurants throughout the State of Texas. K Chen
Engineering’s scope of work includes the preparation of

 Taco Bell Restaurants
K Chen Engineering has had to opportunity to work for
several Taco Bell franchisees as their consulting
engineer. Typical scope of work includes the preparation
of site investigation reports, site plan design, civil
engineering construction documents (including site
plans, paving & drainage plans, site utility plans, site
detail sheets, and storm water pollution prevention
plans) and permitting.
Townes of Nantucket
Townes of Nantucket is an urban residential development
by Cosmopolitan Homes consisting of 12 new homes in
Houston, Texas. The scope of K Chen Engineering’s
services included land planning, subdivision platting,
utility and drainage design as well as permitting and
construction administration services. KCEC has also had
the opportunity to work on several other projects for
Cosmopolitan Homes
 Windwater Village
Windwater Village is a new residential development in
Houston, Texas. The development consists of 100 new
homes and public open spaces. The scope of engineering
services consisted of initial land planning, subdivision
platting, civil design of streets, utilities, storm
drainage facilities and construction administration
services.
